What does a heat pump do?
During the winter months when it’s cold heat pumps extract outside heat from the air and transfers it inside. During the summer months the reverse effect happens and the unit acts like an air conditioner but removes heat from the home. Heat pumps are efficient because they move heat instead of generating heat working very effectively. Heat pumps work well while temperatures are above 25-30 degrees. At this point supplementary heat kicks in from an air handler unit.
How many years does a heat pump Last?
Heat pumps last from 10-15 years depending on maintenance, type of heat pump, and your location. Heat pump maintenance and repairs are recommended yearly.
